Káryyn is a multi-disciplinary artist, electronic musician, vocalist and producer who makes textured and emotional work inspired by the human condition.Her heritage is Syrian-Armenian-American but she was born in Alabama and raised in Indiana, dividing her early life between her American home and summers spent in Syria. These early memories of family and community in the city heavily inspired her debut single named after the Syrian city of Aleppo.
She’s lived in Berlin and New York since then and is probably best known for her work in collaboration with Samantha Shay, an original opera written under tutelage of Marina Abramovic called ‘Of Light’. After a single performance in Reykjavik, the opera was acclaimed by Bjork who watched from the audience.
